Hi, my name is Disha. I am passionate about leveraging technology to facilitate societal impact. In particular, I aim to harness artificial intelligence to improve women's health and work towards health equity.
I started my journey in technology by creating an intuitive tool to determine eligibility for breast cancer screening on the basis of genetic mutations. This tool is free and available on brcatest.org. In addition, I built a multimodal algorithm to reduce the average age of diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder using functional MRI and phenotypic data which received national recognition. Recently, I developed CancerDetect, an iOS app that uses advanced generative AI technology to detect breast cancer at early stages while reducing mortality and the cost of care. Patients and doctors can upload low-resolution ultrasound scans on this app and receive a prompt diagnosis, allowing for timely intervention and giving patients the best chance of survival.
I co-founded the Stem4All club at my school, where I lead over 80 students in working to bridge the STEM education gap in our local community through volunteer partnerships.
I love writing and am the Assistant Opinions Editor for my school's student-led publication, I am responsible for supervising the opinions section for our online site (harkeraquila.com) and newspaper.
In my free time, I love to play the piano, shoot some hoops, and go on hikes with my younger sister.
